Lactation Support

Breastfeeding can be a very satisfying experience for mothers once the rhythm of breastfeeding is established.  It is the most complete nutrition possible for infants, full of immunities, antibodies, and valuable nutrients that are not found in formula.  Sometimes mothers or babies need additional help.  Lactation consultants are here to provide their unique and specialized skills to provide the support, education, and clinical lactation management.

Outpatient lactation support visits are available upon request to breastfeeding mothers and infants. There is a fee for outpatient visits that may be reimbursed by your insurance or flexible spending account.   To schedule an appointment or to ask general breastfeeding questions, please call 936-266-2081.  You may need to leave a message, but the lactation consultant on staff will return your call within the next business day.

Breast Feeding Class
Breastfeed with confidence after taking this class!  You will learn how breast milk is produced, how to encourage your baby to nurse, how to latch your baby correctly, what to expect the first few days of life, and how to manage common challenges nursing moms and babies face.  We encourage partners and/or family members to attend with the expectant mom.
Cost:  $30.00 per couple.  When you register, only ONE person’s information is needed.
Length of class: 3 hours

Ali Flores  Before becoming a lactation consultant in 2010, Ali Flores RN, IBCLC was a mother/baby nurse for 3 years. She started teaching the breastfeeding class in June 2010 because being able to provide new and experienced mothers with the support and education they need in order to reach their breastfeeding goals is her passion. "I find that mothers who take the prenatal breastfeeding class are more prepared and equipped to breastfeed when their babies are born". When she's not helping mothers breastfeed, she enjoys spending time with her family, nurturing her toddler and newest addition, and serving through various ministries in her church.
