St. Luke's names Dr. Wayne McAfee
as “Physician of the Year”
The Woodlands, TX – Wayne McAfee, MD, has recently been named as “Physician of the Year” by St. Luke's Community The Woodlands Hospital (SLTWH).
During a recent celebration of Doctors’ Day at the hospital, Dr. McAfee, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, was presented with a special plaque by CEO Debra Sukin in recognition of his dedication to quality heath care over the past decades.
He was chosen among two other peer nominations: Robert Cook, MD, general surgeon, and Daniel L. Grimmer, MD, pathologist, who also serves as Chief of Medical Staff for St. Luke’s.
St. Luke’s management team and staff collected ballots which nominated physicians for the award based upon their commitment to quality and excellence in health care, demonstrated level of patient-focused care, and leadership among their physician peers and patient care staff.
During the celebration, Sukin said, “It is an honor to recognize our physicians on Doctors’ Day. This year is particularly special as we mark our five year anniversary since the opening of this hospital.
“Each of these physicians was nominated by our staff because of their leadership, compassion and dedication to patient care, which truly represents the quality and excellence in healthcare that St. Luke’s has become known for. We could have not grown as quickly nor have met the demands of our community without the fantastic medical staff leadership. It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. McAfee has been named Physician of the Year by our staff in recognition of his integrity, warm smile, great attitude, and sincere dedication to his patients over the years.”
Dr. McAfee graduated from the University of Texas Southwest Medical School at Dallas. He is board certified in the specialty field of obstetrics and gynecology. With a 30-year history as a physician in Montgomery County, he was one of the first specialists in the county several decades ago.
